Down for the count

The last two weeks have been quite busy and hard so at night I've been too tired to get onto the trainer... and today I've got the lovely bug which has been going around... When your eyes hurt ya know your a bit under the weather... Better in February rather than when in Lilé!

Busy Work week

Well, this week was quite busy with work and when I get home late after a long day of construction makes training hard or impossible. This was to be a third week kick-butt week, but now I need to make next week a "third week" then I can look forward to the following week being a recovery week... Getting ready for Lilé

But today I did my core work and rode the Sufferfest "Fight Club" Ooh I like the attacks. I've once again loaded the data up to Map My Ride where I've got a nice little training log and stored routes for the spring and summer rides.

Suffering to the Sufferfest

Today's work out was my second week, of my second month of off-season training. So I wanted it to be difficult, I did my floor workouts in the morning while I did the laundry... I'll be sore from those! Then I put myself through "Downward Spiral" from the Sufferfest. I have the software which came with my bike computer but it's pretty basic so I've been recording all my workouts on MapMyRide and the amount of info in the computer is revealed... its much better and when it's a road ride and mapped I can see the climbs and know what's a CAT 5... pretty cool!

The "Brantford Boys (and Girls)" were out in -10°C and I just could not, I'll work in the cold but come the weekend I want to be fairly warm. I have moved my "Pain Chamber" out to the unheated sunroom but it has no wind and it is usually much warmer than outside, and after 60 minutes I can warm it up a bit. Last year I did not have an off-season training I just could not get into it, and I kind of sort of rode myself into shape. This year's going to be better I've got my off-season planed out and I am now at my halfway mark.

This year I need to remind myself why I ride, which is 1 Cor 9:24-27 which is the stem cap on my road bike, and I'm thinking of getting one for my cross bike to keep it foremost in my mind. I ride to win The Prize!

Best laid Plans of Mice and men

Oh, how I dislike winter (almost said hate). I have been working my butt off to cover a miserable year in 2009... but in a month and one half I have an opportunity to work in Lile, France during Gent-Wevelgem, Flanders and Paris-Roubaix; so I have been on my trainer busting my butt twice a week on three week builds with one recovery week between.

Training's going well, yesterday I had to take my daughter to dance as it's between semesters and so there's no bus route from our house to the dance studio, I thought of going back to work and go late, as I KNEW there was a storm coming today... Well, I came home and did my trainer work-out got up this a.m. at 5:45 and, yep big snow storm. And I could not and still can not get my trailer down my street... I HOPE I CAN tomorrow. Which means I could have been well rested and done a complete bust my butt trainer ride...

I have to work and finish this job to get bills paid, but since 2009 I've taken Dave Ramsey's course on Financial Peace, I don't agree with all he says' sounds a little prosperity gospel to me but budgeting no credit, no loans etc. Does! He does mention God owns a cattle on a thousand hills, but I've taken Matt 10:29-31 as my verse for my business and when I'm not sure how everything's going to get covered a job "pops" up and I get by... Once everything is paid off and creditors are no more, as the economy is turning around here then it will be easier... But I do have to remember to trust God for all my needs...
